The President of the Republic of Ghana in accordance with Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and the Local Governance Act, 2016(Act 936), nominated Mr. James Ayamweogo for the position of District Chief Executive for the Bawku West District Assembly.
On Wednesday, 23rd April,2025,there was a special meeting of the Assembly to confirm the President’s nominee, at the District Assembly Conference Hall of which elections were held. Hon.James Ayamweogo won the most votes with 38 out of 49 and was declared the District Chief Executive of Bawku West District.
There was also the swearing in of Government Appointees- District Magistrate, remarks by the Hon. Regional Minister and swearing-in of the new DCE.
The Hon. DCE in his acceptance speech expressed his gratitude to the house for confirming his nomination. He admitted that all though all the contestants for the position were duly qualified, he was grateful to God and all those who played various roles to get him there.
He also took the opportunity to thank the president for giving such an opportunity to serve his district, describing it as an honour.
The Hon. DCE acknowledged all his predecessors who played their various roles in bringing development to the district and pledged to continue their developmental legacy.
The Hon. DCE also took advantage to thank all and sundry who played significant roles in his life to get him to where he is now as an individual.
He promised to work tirelessly to reset the Bawku West District to the district everyone wants it to become by tackling resource mobilization gabs, extending rural electrification, insecurity, providing potable drinking water and collaborating with the other five sister districts of Kusaug.
He also called on all stakeholders to put all hands-on deck to bring development to the district. He pledged to fight unemployment through the following government policies, the 24-hour economy, the National Apprenticeship Program. The Hon. DCE concluded by thanking all who played vital roles in making the meeting a success. He wished all a safe journey back to their various destinations.
