On February 28th, 2026, the Bawku West District Assembly formally launched an “Operation Clean Your Surroundings” initiative at the Zebilla Lorry Station. This program is designed to enhance cleanliness and enforce sanitation by-laws throughout the district.

Key Strategies Presented by the District Chief Executive (DCE)

– Enforce sanitation regulations to ensure public cleanliness.

– Evaluate and recognize electoral areas based on their cleanliness standards.

– Ensure that every household has access to toilet facilities.

– Require businesses and shops to have dust bins.

– Assign cleaners to major market areas.

– Enforce regulations on truck load covering to prevent littering.

The initiative received strong support from Member of Parliament Hon. Ebenezer Ndebilla Alomire, who emphasized its potential to foster environmental cleanliness and promote public health. He pledged ten (10) dust bins to further bolster these efforts. Hon.
