BAWKU WEST DISTRICT ASSEMBLY

INSPECTION OF RIPPED OF SCHOOL

The District Chief Executive Hon. James Ayamwego, accompanied by the District Education Director, the Assembly’s Engineer, and other significant individuals, on 31st March, 2026, inspected schools that were ripped off by a recent rainstorm.

Speaking at the site of one of the affected schools, the DCE noted that reports had been received from Assembly Members, Headteachers of the affected schools, and the District Director of Education regarding the damage caused by the rainstorm. He therefore decided to immediately visit the schools to ascertain the extent of damage to decide on the next actions to take to remedy the situation. He emphasized that it was essential for everyone to contribute to ensuring that contractors perform quality work to avert such incidents in the future. He elaborated on the safety concerns associated with roofs being blown off, asserting that maintaining high-quality work should be a priority for all.

The schools affected included Kubougo Primary, Hamdaniah Primary, and Ankpaliga Primary schools.

A former Assembly Member, Honorable Awande John highlighted the issue of overpopulation during the visit, which he stated is leading to ineffective teaching and learning at Kubougo Primary School. He urged philanthropists, the Ghana Education Service, and the Honourable DCE of Bawku West to assist the school by providing an additional three-unit classroom block to alleviate the congestion in the school. He also pointed out the absence of trees to shield the roof from strong winds.
